Malaise is Back. America is Not.
Joe Biden's presidency eerily mirrors the presidency of Jimmy Carter. Both are disastrous.
Malaise is Back. America is Not.
In a bizarre tweet on November 24, 2020, Joe Biden tweeted “America is Back.” This line became a common one in the first 100 days of Joe Biden’s Administration, with Biden pledging to allies the same line in February 2021. Even EU Commission President Ursula Von Der Leyen used the line on Inauguration Day, tweeting “The United States is back.” The meaning of this slogan is undoubtedly a globalist one, and it’s not as innocent as one may expect. The gatekeepers of the Regime declare “America is Back” not because America is actually back to its former greatness. Far from it. They use the line to re-commit our country to the multilateral, hyper-globalized, international rules based order, one that has actually caused so much chaos.
The definition of chaos is what the United States was experiencing in the late 1970s, under President Jimmy Carter. During Carter’s presidency, economic stagnation, major oil crises, gas shortages, the Cold War with the Soviets, inflation, cozier relations with China, and a national energy crises brought America to its knees. Sound familiar?
To address these challenges, Carter delivered his famous “Malaise” speech on July 15, 1979. In this address, Carter described the issues facing the country, and his view on what was needed to tackle them. Carter declared “The threat is nearly invisible in ordinary ways. It is a crisis of confidence. It is a crisis that strikes at the very heart and soul and spirit of our national will. We can see this crisis in the growing doubt about the meaning of our own lives and in the loss of a unity of purpose for our nation...All the legislation in the world can't fix what's wrong with America. What is lacking is confidence and a sense of community.”
Like too many speeches, the words sound nice on paper, but the actual policies to end crises end up failing. This is exactly what happened with Carter. Inflation, gas shortages, economic stagnation, weakness with the Soviets and Iran, as well as a sweeping sense of malaise across America continued to affect his presidency, and forty five years later, Carter’s legacy is still viewed with disgust from millions of Americans.
Economic Stagnation
The reason why so many Americans view Carter’s presidency with disgust is the general sense of malaise we had to experience during his presidency. Today, the circumstances are very similar. Joe Biden has been president for 111 days, and I have to admit, he has failed even my lowest expectations. Much like Jimmy Carter, the United States faces a growing problem of inflation. The Left will keep their heads in the sand on this issue as usual. Inflation is impacting hundreds of household items and goods. Last May, the price of a 1,000 ft board of lumber costed $343, which is in the typical range. One year later, lumber today costs $1,635. Ordinary household items are seeing a massive spike in prices, as laundry equipment, uncooked beef, and apples are seeing prices for these products rising 24.2%, 11.2%, and 7.4% respectively. Baby products are seeing price hikes between 4 and 9%, and car rentals in markets like Florida are seeing massive price spikes up to 300%. The United States now has a stagflation problem, where economic stagnation and inflation are twin threats to our economy. Don’t expect Joe Biden to do anything productive about it though, his administration is too busy blocking businesses owned by white males to receive their coronavirus recovery funds equally. Last Friday, a pathetic jobs report was announced, with only 266,000 jobs being created compared to one million expected. The economic recovery that President Trump oversaw after the 2020 Election, which saw record GDP growth of 33.1% in Q3 2020, has now gone bust.
The lack of jobs created and inflation are not the only threats to the economy under our incompetent, bumbling president who belongs in a nursing home. Gas shortages are becoming a reality, too. Even before the May 7th Colonial fuel Pipeline cyberattack, media outlets were predicting gas shortages this summer. Less than three weeks later, because of Biden’s response to the Colonial pipeline hack, gas shortages are officially a reality in America. Gas stations in the Carolinas and Florida are reporting no gas, and lines are stretching around the block. But on the bright side, Biden tweets nice and governs with “decency”, so everything is better than when the Orange Bully was President.
Incompetence in Foreign Policy
The same exact issues that negatively affected our country under Jimmy Carter are now happening again under Joe Biden. And this time, the threat is even more acute. Like Jimmy Carter, President Joe Biden is struggling on foreign policy. Israel and the Palestinians are nearing all-out war, the State Department is bending over backwards to revive the Iran Nuclear Deal, the Biden Administration talks tough but does nothing on China, and three Marxist candidates are likely to be elected in Peru, Chile and Colombia in elections later this year. Biden’s approach to all of these issues is all talk, no action. While Donald Trump’s foreign policy operated through boldness and peace through strength, Biden’s foreign policy sticks to the same international rules based order, preferring to use weak kneed diplomatic efforts, sometimes with wokeness mixed in, to get their results. Yet the results have been severely lacking so far, as the world tumbles into one disaster after the other, Joe Biden being too incompetent to do anything. Under President Trump, peace in the Middle East became a reality, with Israel making peace with the UAE, Bahrain, Sudan and Morocco. Now, Israel is facing heavy rocket fire from Palestinian terrorists, with Palestinian missiles directly hitting multiple Israeli cities. Under President Trump, at least In 2017-2018, Latin America experienced relative stability, and now, Marxist candidates are likely to win elections in three countries. All of this is a direct result of Joe Biden and his globalist loving State Department’s policies of weakness, nonchalance, and gross incompetence.
No Confidence, No Community
In his July 1979 Malaise speech, Carter said, “All the legislation in the world can't fix what's wrong with America. What is lacking is confidence and a sense of community.” The same words ring true now, and more loudly. In the United States, the coronavirus has exacerbated the trends beginning in the 1970s of globalization and job loss causing broken communities. Today, Joe Biden oversees a raging opioid crisis, record divorce and low fertility rates, shattered communities from the Rust Belt to cities, rising violent crime and soaring murder rates, and a never ending barrage of calls to defund the police. Cities are seeing record rates of violence, as our institutions triple down on wokeness that divides communities rather than unite.
Powerful multinational corporations from Google & Amazon to JP Morgan and Starbucks all supported Joe Biden’s 2020 campaign with a record amount of fundraising are now forcefully shoving wokeness down Americans throats. Under Biden, United Airlines made a new rule that over 50% of pilot training students will be people of color, Kellogg, a corporation who everyone knows are experts in Black history, has said “every month needs to be Black history month”, and Coca Cola has encouraged its employees in a diversity training “to be less white”. The once happiest place on Earth is now the most woke under Joe Biden, as Disney has trained its employees in diversity trainings to repent for their “white privilege”, understand “white fragility & white saviorism”, has launched separated affinity groups for the different identifiers of employees, and has encouraged employees to fill out checklists based on how privileged they are.
In primary and middle schools, the second place where confidence and community are supposed to be built outside of the home, both virtues are being destroyed too. The toxic virus of critical race theory has infected our schools too. In Nevada, a biracial student who looks white was failed in his class and made to apologize for his “white dominance”. At the elite Grace Church School in New York City, a whistleblower teacher leaked recordings and documents showing the School “demonizes white students for being born” and the Head of School hinted his school teaches “white students are inherently evil”. A Cupertino elementary school is teaching third graders about cisgenderness and “the dominant culture of white male power”, and third graders are told to rank themselves on what privileges they have or lack. At the Fieldston High School in New York, students are told not to call some of the founding physics laws as Newton’s Laws anymore, as this “decenters whiteness”, and stresses how their new curriculum “the work of an accomplice in anti-colonial struggle is to attack colonial structures & ideas”.
If you think the lack of confidence or community in schools could not get any worse, think again. The education department of California is now considering an equitable math program for its hundreds of thousands of public school students, declaring “the focus on getting ‘the right answer’, students being required to show their work, prioritizing ‘real world math’, and working on math independently over group cooperation” are examples of white supremacy in the math classroom. Virginia’s public schools are following California’s lead, eliminating advanced math classes for all students except 11th and 12th graders for “equity”, implying nonwhite students struggle because of systemic racism in math that holds these students back. This nonsense is never ending.
In another example of how harmful critical race theory can be to communities being united, at Los Angeles’ elite Brentwood School, white parents and white faculty are given separate meeting rooms from Black faculty. Asian and Latino parents and faculty are also given their own separate meeting rooms, as if this idea of neo segregation will build a united community, one that Jimmy Carter said America was lacking back then. All of these examples above of wokeness in our classrooms are happening under Joe Biden’s presidency. In a normal country, these dangerous initiatives poisoning America’s children would be stopped, but Biden’s Administration is offering federal funding to schools that push critical race theory on students.
Weakness Abroad and Neglect At Home
From Israel to Xinjiang to Peru, the world is spinning out of control, while Joe Biden is too clueless to do anything. Like Jimmy Carter, the world was in chaos then as it is now, and both presidents were far too incompetent to know how to assertively take charge. At home, Joe Biden’s Administration is too busy giving hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants free passage into the United States, allowing a record high of hundreds of thousands of illegals to freely cross the Southern border, ending deportation enforcement for illegal immigrants, and using federal money to house illegal immigrants in luxury hotels, all while Americans who actually live here face a record poverty rate of 11.7%. Childhood poverty is at 17.4%, and as Americans struggle to keep their homes, Biden is inviting foreign illegal immigrants into our home.
In conclusion, gas prices are soaring as American morale is falling. Israel and Colombians are at war in their streets, and there is no peace on ours here at home. Our children are being indoctrinated to hate their own country. Americans are experiencing record levels of poverty, as woke multinational corporations are reaping in record profits. Twitter and Facebook are censoring conservative journalists, as inflation on household goods soars. The police are being demonized by institutions as our politicians ignore them, and even our military is being politicized by the Left. Make no mistake, these are dark days in America. Yes, the Senate and House are nearly tied between Democrats and Republicans, but genuine conservatism has our backs against the wall. Better days are ahead in the future, but in today’s present time, it is very easy for Americans to be pessimistic. This is really what “America is Back” means?
The sobering reality is Joe Biden’s presidency has eery similarities to Jimmy Carter’s four year reign of chaos, despair and malaise. The same crises that happened then are happening now, and they have the real potential to be more severe. Like Ronald Reagan in 1980, the only leader to truly put America First and care for our people will be one who leads with strength, boldness, resoluteness and a profound love for the United States. Jimmy Carter and Joe Biden have shown anything but those attributes as they manage this nation’s decline into near ruin. The good news is we know that unlike Donald Trump, President Joe Biden tweets nice things! Whether it is 1979 or 2021, we are living in a nation on decline, in despair, and stuck in a rut. This is what malaise feels like. To the globalist regime who run this country from Wall Street to K Street, their America is Back. The America for the rest of us is certainly not.
